Rostify 7.3

01 Basics

Rostify at a glance

One platform for the shift operations of an air traffic control unit – from staffing demand down to the individual working position.

  • For
  • Everyone

One chain, not separate lists

Rostify links the planning steps that would otherwise sit in separate spreadsheets. Each step builds on the one before.

Step What it produces Who
Position plan Which positions must be staffed at what time – in a grid of 15, 30 or 60 minutes Planner
Shift pattern The shifts for each weekday that cover this demand – set up by hand or calculated as an optimal pattern Planner
Monthly roster Who works which shift on which day, checked against rest periods, requests and licences Planner
OPS schedule Who on duty sits at which position and when Supervisor
My Roster and app The current roster for every staff member, with exchange, leave and requests Staff

If the position plan changes, the pattern, monthly roster and OPS schedule can be derived from it again. Licences and briefing status are checked at every step.

Units

An organisation consists of any number of units, for example ACC, APP, TWR, OJT or SIM. Each unit has its own shifts, patterns, positions and settings.

There are two kinds:

  • OPS units run the operational shift service: monthly roster, shift exchange, absences, OPS schedule.
  • Support units plan supporting areas, for example training or office. They have a simplified planning workflow.

A person can be registered in several units at the same time – for example as a controller in APP and as a trainer in OJT. Their roster then shows the shifts of all these units.

Rights apply per unit

What you can see and edit in Rostify depends on your roles in the unit currently selected. Someone who is a Planner in APP and Staff in TWR sees only the staff functions after switching to TWR. See Roles and rights for details.

The monthly cycle

Every monthly roster of an OPS unit goes through four stages. Rostify shows the current stage everywhere as a status.

  1. Open – Staff enter their shift requests, up to the unit's deadline.
  2. Closed – Requests are no longer accepted; the Planner builds the roster.
  3. Published – The roster is visible to everyone. From now on, shifts are exchanged, sick reports are entered and shifts are replaced.
  4. Archived – The month has been settled and can no longer be changed.

Instead of “Published” and “Archived”, support units only have the status Finished.

Local time and UTC

Shift times are planned and displayed in local time. The OPS schedule also shows UTC.

System requirements

  • PC or Mac with a current version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari or Opera. Internet Explorer and legacy Edge are not supported.
  • Recommended screen resolution: 1920 × 1080 pixels. A wide screen helps with the monthly roster and the OPS schedule.
  • For the app: iPhone or Android smartphone with a current operating system.
