Roles apply per unit
A person is given roles for each unit separately. Someone who is Planner and Staff in APP can be just Staff in TWR. Your profile shows which roles you have under Units · Permissions.
Roles can be combined freely. The sidebar always shows the sum of the functions of your roles in the active unit.
Roles that are added or removed only take effect the next time the person concerned signs in.
The roles
| Role | Letter | Tasks | Chapter |
|---|---|---|---|
| Staff | S | Own roster, shift requests, leave, shift exchange, volunteering for overtime, time clock, reading briefings. Only people with this role are scheduled in the monthly roster. | 02 Staff |
| Trainee | T | Sees their trainers' roster and enters office shifts themselves. | 03 Trainee |
| Trainer | I | Appears in the trainees' trainer roster; recipient of briefings for trainers. | 03 Trainer |
| Observer | O | Sees the daily staffing and published rosters without changing anything. | 03 Observer |
| Supervisor | U | Runs the current day: sick reports, replacement, overtime, time clock, OPS schedule, briefings, licence warnings. | 04 Supervisor |
| Planner | P | Shifts, positions, position plan, patterns, monthly roster, Autoplan, leave requests, publishing and archiving. | 05 Rostering |

In addition, each organisation has a Super admin. The super admin creates units and sees the quotas. This role is assigned by Rostify support.

OPS and support units
Some functions exist only in OPS units: shift exchange, leave requests, absences and time for Supervisors, the OPS schedule and printing the group roster. In support units, Planners use a simplified workflow – see Support units.
Privacy between units
Shifts from other units appear in rosters under their alias, a separate code that does not reveal the type of shift. A Planner in a support unit only sees which unit other units' shifts belong to.
