Shift requests

Up to the deadline you enter your requests directly in My Roster. The roster planner and Autoplan take them into account when planning.

When requests are possible

You can submit requests while the month has the status Open. The tooltip on the status shows until when – on the dashboard under ROSTER and in My Roster. Your unit sets the deadline day:

  • If it is before the 15th, requests for the next month close on that day.
  • If it is on the 15th or later, requests for the month after next close on that day.

Example: deadline day 20 – requests for December are possible until 20 October.

Entering a request

  1. Open My Roster and select the month.
  2. Hover over the day. A green border shows that you can make an entry here.
  3. Click the day. A drop-down list opens.
  4. Select the shift you want. Rostify saves immediately; the cell flashes briefly and the figures update.

A confirmation appears at the top, for example You entered f1 on 14.10.

The list only contains shifts that are released for requests and for which you hold the required licences. Besides normal shifts, your unit often offers placeholders, such as "any early shift". A placeholder counts as met if the planner assigns you a shift from the same group.

Changing and deleting

  • Change: Click your request and select a different shift.
  • Delete: Select - in the list.

If a day has a red border, the entry was made by the roster planner. You cannot change it.

How many requests?

Your unit sets a maximum number of requests per month. Once it is reached, Sorry, already TOO MANY REQUESTS. Your maximum is … per month. appears. Changing an existing request does not count as a new one.

Rest period

Rostify checks every request against the rest period to your neighbouring shifts. If there is a conflict, the request is still saved, marked with red hatching, and a notice about the rest period appears. If you change or delete the request, the marking disappears.

Requests are only requests. The roster planner can override a request if staffing needs require it. After planning, My Roster shows a different shift with yellow hatching; the tooltip names your original request.

General requests

Besides requests for individual days there are general requests: shift types you would rather not work on certain weekdays or at all – for example "no night shifts on Fridays". Your administrator maintains them for you; you can see them in your profile. Autoplan and the roster planner can see when a shift breaches a general request.

After publication

Once the roster has been published, requests are no longer possible. Changes are then made through shift exchange. Exception: staff with an office share can also enter office shifts in published rosters. These days have an orange border.
