Glossary
Terms and abbreviations as Rostify and this manual use them.

| Term | Meaning |

| Alias | Two-character code under which a shift appears in other units. |
| Autoplan | Calculates a preview of the monthly roster that complies with all mandatory rules. Its entries carry the tag AUTO. |
| Balance (Δ) | Difference between actual and target hours. |
| Briefing | Message to the unit: Must (compulsory), Daily or Info. Compulsory briefings must be acknowledged. |
| Checklist | List for the Planner showing changes since publication – exchanges, sick reports, overtime, time clock – to be ticked off. |
| Company ID | Your organisation's identifier when signing in. |
| Daily demand | Row below the monthly roster: staffed compared with the pattern, per shift and day. |
| Deadline | Last day on which staff can submit requests for a month. After that, the month is Closed. |
| FT / FT3 | Public holiday hours of the month / of the past years. |
| FTE | Employment level as a percentage. |
| General request | Permanent restriction, such as no night shifts on Fridays. Maintained by the administrator. |
| Initials | A person's code, used to show them in rosters. |
| IST roster | The actual roster, with all changes made after publication. |
| Jobshare | A person's office share as a percentage. |
| Licence | Qualification with a period of validity, such as an ATCO licence or medical. Shifts and positions require licences. |
| Main SUP | The Supervisor with the earliest shift start of the day in the OPS schedule. |
| MRK / MK2 / XRK | Markings in the monthly roster: blue, green, remove. Autoplan leaves marked shifts unchanged. |
| OPS schedule | Deployment plan for one day: who works at which position when, who is on a break or in a briefing. |
| Optimal pattern | Shifts calculated from the position plan that cover the demand for each weekday. |
| Overtime | Additional shift – whole or by the hour. Assigned or called out by the Supervisor. |
| Partial replacement | Overtime that covers a missing shift only in part (Partly replaced). |
| Pattern | Which shifts are staffed how often on which weekday. Basis for the daily demand and Autoplan. |
| Placeholder | Request such as “any early shift”. Met when a shift of the same group is scheduled; deleted on publication. |
| Position | Working position in operations, for example a sector, supervisor, standby or briefing. |
| Position plan | Which positions must be staffed at what time on each weekday. |
| Request ≠ roster | The scheduled shift differs from the request. Hatched in yellow until publication. |
| Shift | A duty with a code (three characters at most), start, duration, type, group, category and licences. |
| Shift group | Early, late, night or long shifts. Determines which placeholders a shift fulfils, and the night logic. |
| Shift type | Working time, absence, spare time or placeholder. Controls the time account and the need for replacement. |
| SOLL roster | The target roster: the state of the roster at publication. Stays unchanged. |
| Status | Open → Closed → Published → Archived; in support units Finished. |
| Time clock | Recording of deviations from the planned shift: arriving earlier, leaving later, a longer break. |
| Unit | An organisational unit with its own settings, such as ACC, APP or TWR (German: Dienststelle). OPS units plan operations; support units plan, for example, office or training. |
